Have not told mortgage company partner is going to live with me, does that matter?

I am in a bit of a confused situation which seems to be happening a lot during buying a house for the first time. When I applied for a mortgage my financial advisor advised that I should not tell my mortgage company that my partner was moving in as they could view him as a dependant (even though he has a good job and reliable income). So we didn't tell them. Today however I went to the solicitor and she on the spot asked me if my partner was moving in and I said yes, she asked if I had told my mortgage company. I had to reply that I assumed my financial advisor would have done this. It was such an awkward situation to be in. What will happen now, should I say to my mortgage company that he is living with me or should I say to the solicitor that he isn't going to anymore. Or should I just forget about and hope the mortgage company do not notice the solicitor has said there is another occupier on the form. Somebody please help!!! I am now going to be having more sleepless night.

The lender will require the other adult to sign a disclaimer that they will move out if they repossess and can't do anything to prevent repo' if you fall behind with repayments.

As the partner can show his own income, he shouldn't be classed as a dependant, so shouldn't effect the loan amount available.
