selling gold...what about the stones in the rings??

hi all
just sorted out some old gold that i wana get some cash for...what happens if theres stones in??? how will they work out the value...i doubt theyre diamonds or of any real value...
working on £7.90 per gram i reckon ive got about 350 worth but htat included the stones

Normally when you sell a ring with a stone in it, the jeweller keeps the stones to use himself or sells them on to another jeweller. When you take your jewellery into the shop, they will give you a value for the whole lot, stones and all.

They deduct total to allow for weight of stones.
Today is £7.20 per gram for 9ct. Changes each day depending on current gold prices. I sent mine off yesterday and have £395 in my bank account today - fab service

If you buy indian or Turkish gold they charge whatever the prevailing daily rate is for the gold plus a small percentage for their profit. When they weigh the article they do not make any deduction for the stone and I am told they don't do it the other way round either unless there is an enormous stone on a thin ring in which case they may remove the stone to weigh it.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0
