Sainsburys basics washing powder shrinks in size!(but not price)

Options
For those who buy Sainsbury's basics washing powder:
The big box used to be 3Kg for £1.64 and 1Kg for 65p. They have reduced the size of pack - 2.4Kg and 800g for the same price !!

I found today that the shelf filler had not noticed the change and had put 800g on top of the old 1kg packs. So have a rummage and you might find a bigger pack. It's even cheaper per g to buy 3 x 1Kg packs rather than 1 x 2.4Kg pack.

Yes everything is shrinking in size. Most washing powders are smaller in size, cereals as well. Also check out the frozen foods in your freezer the newer packets are also smaller. For example at Tesco:-

    Fairy non bio.

A few weeks ago this was £9.96 for 4.18 KG
the other day it was £10.49 for 3.36 KG

    Tesco cooquettes

The old packs were 1KG now they are down to 750g same price.

    An increase of 34%!

How disappointing- I LOVE that stuff, it's my favourite Basics item by far! I knew I should've bought a couple of the 3kg boxes when I did my online shop the other week. In the end I only bought one 'cos it lasts my little family about 3 months....drat!
I'll still get it as it's still going to be significantly cheaper and better value than the 'normal' own brand or big brand alternatives however. But I agree it's quite underhand. I guess it's indicative of how the supermarkets are really doing if they have to resort to this kind sneaky corner-cutting, tut tut! ;)
