hi
yes i updated my details with TC & CHB although i didnt ring CHB direct as TC said they do it automatically. unfortunately i've since discovered that they were on tld on 27th. CHB said they cannot retreive it from the account & there is nothing they can do. I've tried to use the card but can still access my account online. i darent use my card as i thought it was illegal to just take the money now we've gone bankrupt?gettingoutofdebt wrote: »After you son's friends have been around call Barclays back and explain the issue to them. You never know they might be ok about it. Has your Barclays account been frozen? If not you could always try to use the card to get the money from an ATM. Did you update your bank details with the Child Benefits Agency? If so and they paid it into the incorrect account they might be able to retrieve it from Barclays and pay it into the correct account.
What ever happens first thing tomorrow you should contact the child benefit people to make sure they have the correct bank details as you don't want this to happen again.0 -
i've just spoken to barclays again & OR. I'm so wound up! i couldn't understand the man at barclays (is it illegal to ask to speak to someone english) at first he said yes the funds were available & i was free to take them, despite me saying i was bankrupt. he then went of to speak with someone after i explained i was bankrupt & asked if they needed my OR to send some sort of letter. he said they needed the OR to phone them & something else that i couldnt understand at all.
i told the OR this & she said it's not normal practise for them to phone the bank but took my account details anyway. she still insisted that it's up to barclays if they want to let me have it or not. i said even though it's child benefit & she said yes, if they say no then there's nothing any1 can do

If you still have problems after the OR has done her bit, then go into the branch and ask to speak to someone senior. Quote the bit that Tillboy has posted. The branch may ring the OR and ask that she fax something over.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I had the same happen to me with 3 mths worth of housing benefit, and I cried on the phone to everyone, this happened yesterday. I cried like a baby...Today I went into the bank and demanded my rent money and pleaded like a baby and told them it was against the law to keep my money and they have handed over the cash, and now I have paid my rent.
Falling down is NOT failure, failure is not getting up again!
Enjoying life ... All sorted finally. :j0
