Free Spanish Lessons

Hola
I signed up for the this course in May and am about half way through and I've really enjoyed it (Thanks again to Mr Crip for posting). Just to confirm it is completely free and it is online. You will be emailed a link each week and you just click on that and it takes you to the meeting where you sign in. It's a virtual classroom and there is a small video screen of the tutor and a power point presentation. You will need a headset so you can talk to the tutor and ask any questions and they send you homework each week (words and phrases to practice).
From what I can work out The Language Machine operate as an agency for tutors and I imagine the free course is a way to let you get a feel for what learning the language and working with the tutor will be like and then if you want to at the end of it you can continue paying for lessons if you want to continue.
Also thanks Kill Bill for highlighting that you have the chance to sign up again because if you've never come across Spanish before I think it's a really useful way to get to grips with the basics. There are about 25 of us in the class and I wasn't sure how well that would work, but not everyone wants to talk or always has questions and we seem to get through the lessons OK. It's not perfect, they do have technical glitches from time to time. However considering it's completely free and that I've never heard of the company before I've been really impressed and think they've put a lot of effort into it.
Hope that helps0 -
Hola
I understand why The Language Machine may have appeared a bit dodgy (never heard of them before and you don't have to download software etc) but I'm taking the course and so far so good.
I think there are some really good suggestions in this thread. I've downloaded the Coffee Break Spanish podcasts and I'm finding those useful for practicing pronunciation. Live Mocha looks like something I could imagine using when I've got a basic grasp of the language and is something I intend to investigate at a later stage.
Thanks again guys I'm really enjoying this freebie, nice work!0 -
Hola!
Agree with Chocolattefox on this. I've been doing the course which started in May and so far it has been great fun. We have had some technical problems with the meeting room but I gather it's a new thing so hopefully these should be ironed out.
I liked a lot of the other resources posted here but I've already got loads of books and stuff to study on my own at home. The difference here is that there is a live tutor which makes the whole think more interactive. And she's really great!
I'm going to enrol on the next course as well again I think to make sure it all sinks in!0 -
Anyone looking for free online language lessons should check out edufire.com
Some of the lessons cost a small fee, but there are plenty of tutors who often free introductory courses, or special free offers sometimes.
Just to confirm, it is safe, you can't catch a virus from watching a video steam (think youtube..)
My friend gakuranman does Japanese lessons on here, I am yet to actually participate in any lessons as the timing never seems to be suitable, or I ust forget, and I don't have a working mic at the moment, but when I do i'll be signing up to some lessons here
Saving for a year in Japan.
I need around £10,000. Help me get there! :cool:0 -
