Won a weekend in Istanbul!

I have won three nights accomodation and return flights to Istanbul, to be used before the end of 2010. :j I got a winning snail mail letter just before I went on a long weekend trip to Germany - self-funded, unfortunately - to see Kraftwerk play a few gigs in Wolfsburg, via Bremen and Hannover. This is my first chance to post since then!

Believe it or not, I have preivously won a very similar prize! What are the chances of that?! I went about this time last year and had a great time. The hotel was a "luxury" one but it was in the middle of nowhere and a pain to get to so hopefully I can get something a bit more central this time. I missed out on seeing the Dolmobache Palace as I wanted to do a trip up the Bosphorous. I may go inside the Blue Mosque as well. Some friends are visiting there this year so I may try and time it to co-incide with their trip. I will take a proper guidebook this time as the friend who accompanied me last time brought one he had taken out of the library; it was so old, it might have well as said "Constantinopole" on the front! :rotfl:

Plus I hope to get at least one football game in while I'm there; one of my favourite things to do abroard is to take in a local league game. It's a shame that my beloved Manchester City didn't make it to the final of the UEFA Cup as that's being held in Istanbul this year. I think that's what prompted me to enter that comp; it really would have been my dream prize!

Still, I'm very very happy with this. Thanks once again to bhafc810 and all who put in similar hard work in posting. Long may we win!
