Lidl tinned toms in observer taste test

Noticed in the Observer food monthly that Lidl tinned toms came out top of the ones tested for making spag bol.

A little watery but bright in colour with a fine amount of acidity. These taste very natural and would make a good base.

I think you can get value lines a bit cheaper, but its nice to know one of the cheapest is also a good quality product.

I've always preferred Lidl tinned tomatoes over value ones anywhere else. The colour is better and the tin is full of tomatoes whereas you get more juice with the value ones as well as the flavour being better. Last time I bought them they were exactly the same price as Tesco value.
