Car scrappage scheme - genuine savings?

The other thing people should realise is that the government get approx £2300 in tax, VAT etc on a car costing £10k. New car sales have nearly ground to a halt, so the government is getting very little revenue. If they had genuinely wanted to kick start sales the government should be putting £2k in the pot and the motor manufacturers the same.0

Personally speaking I have a car that would qualify for the scheme. I have never bought a new car in my life and getting £2000 off a new one does not interest me at all...If they did what NAR suggested that would be a different matter!Dave0

I am going for this, it only really works if you choose a car that you normally CAN'T get a discount off.................ie a FIAT 500! Theres a delay of about 12 weeks for delivery though, plus all the paperwork hoops you have to jump through!!
A genuine £2000 saving!
