I'm on a dmp with CCCS and have been since January last year. You have to ride the storm for a couple of months and things do settle down. I either didn't answer the phone to them or if I did, I refused to go through their security questions, gave them my CCCS reference number, told them I'd only deal in writing and hung up.

In fact, when I contacted my 2 largest creditors over a year ago and before I found this site, to tell them I was having difficulties, they told me to get in contact with either Payplan or CCCS as they were more likely to accept their proposals than a fee charging company. True to their words, they were the first creditors to accept, almost immediately and they've kept interest frozen for the last year. They write to me from time to time just to say that they are reviewing things and then I hear nothing for a couple of months. I've not heard from a creditor by phone since August last year (this was a particularly difficult creditor who have since sold the debt on - thank god) Otherwise, all is fine.

You've done the right thing and keep posting.

Good luck on your debt free journey!

National Debtline website has a good template letter you can use to send to the creditors. I'm sure that Payplan will send you template letters - CCCS did with me.

  • Hi Paul
Well done for dealing with your debt. A DMP is the best thing that you could have done. I've just started on my DMP journey with CCCS. Check out the DMP mutual support thread, the guys on there will get you through any tough times! I had all the same worries as you, I'm paying slightly more a month than you but for twice the amount of debt!:eek:
I have had no nasty phonecalls and my three biggest creditors NR, Tesco and M&S have all accepted my offer of payment.
Hang on in there, and please take a look at the DMP thread, it'll become your most supportive friend over the next few weeks.
    Take care
    MD xx
Finally brave enough to deal with my debts! :D

Just out of interest, did anyone take out the repayment insurance offered with your DMP?

It works out for me approx £18 per month and covers you for unemployment ect and just wondered whether it was recommended by anyone here.

    thanks

    Hi
I've not heard of that before, it's not something that CCCS offer. I'd rather the £18 went owards paying off my debts, but that's just my opinion, I'm sure somebody more qualified than myself will pop along with an answer soon.

Hi Paul as Tixy and the others said. You may have a little bit of grief to start off with but I would imagine that 90% will accept straight away. Just divert any grief you get to Payplan and if you get any phonecalls from DCAs just explain that you are on a DMP with Payplan, here is my reference number, if youve got any questions please speak to them. Im sure it will be fine. Im with Payplan and theyve been fab throughout. Good luck and keep posting here with any questions you have Len

Sorry but god no don't do this, if you get calls from your creditors, tell you DMP/DMC they will sort it. Telling your creditors to contact them rarely seems to work (as far as HBOS anyway) as HBOS are so disjointed that we can only leave customer services notes that need the customer to call, a good agent will take you out of the diallerbut very few of us actually seem to have the decency to do so. The DMP will call the creditors on your behalf and often the calls will magically stop, and oddly the banks will love you for it as every call costs them a bloody fortune.

    Hi all

Thought I would give you all an update after the first payment had been made to my Crdietors via payplan.

Had a letter from HSBC today confirming they are accepting the proposal made to repay the outstanding balance of my credit card and agreed to stop the interest.

After reading some of the things on this website about them I was pleasantly surprised that they have agreed to Payplans proposals first!!

If only the others prove this easy!!
