Stag do in the UK - any ideas?

I'm getting married this time next year and have decided to have my stag do in the UK to cut down on costs after being shocked at the cost and amount of time off work required to attend my friends stag do's.
Loose idea is to do an activity of some description in the afternoon followed by a meal and a night out somewhere away from my home town (Manchester).
However, I know that the majority of pubs/clubs are (probably rightly) reluctant to let large groups of males in because of the potential for trouble.
Has anyone got suggestions of potential places where I could go (either towns/cities or specific clubs)?
Or I did wonder if there are any venues that cater specifically for stag/hen nights?

I went on a stag in Bournemouth this weekend. 32 of us and didn't have a problem getting in anywhere. I would highly recommend it also.0

My OH is having his in Birmingham. They're spending the afternoon go-karting, then going for a meal, going to a comedy club and then onto a club after. They're staying in a hotel overnight. It's costing £120 each - not bad for a city centre hotel, go-karting, meal and entry to the two clubs. I think it also includes transport from the go-karting place to the hotel by minibus, and from the hotel to the clubs and back, but I'm not certain.
It's all booked through one company, I don't know which, but there are a few specialists who come up on Google0 -
My OH is going go-karting too (in Colne, Lancashire) but he also looked into Paintballing. Then a pub crawl location still to be decided.Total for 2009: L'Oreal Lip Duo, Diary, Motability Guide
Thanks to everyone who post comps - you are all :cool2:0 -
Cheers for all your sugestions, just had a quick google and found a site where I can go for two nights in Nottingham with accomadation, paintballing, go-karting and guaranteed entry to a club for £150pp. Seems a pretty good deal, the site is called last night of freedom.co.uk - has anyone got any experience of this company? Are they any good?0

My OH is hiring a canal boat, im not too sure where hes going on it though but I think it sounds top. we are in West Yorks but not sure if hes going on the canal here, as he would float past our house... maybe not the best idea?!
I went on a hen do organised through a company like lastnightofreedom, it was pretty good - but the clubs they send you too are awful, (in my opinion) it was this hideous 80s one called Reflex.0 -
Ha! That is one thing I did worry about - doesn't sound like my kind of place! I'm more worried about finding somewhere that will let a big group of lads in - would be gutted if I spent my stag do wandering round some town not able to get in anywhere!!0

Could you decide what club you want to goto and then visit before hand and speak to the manager.
Just an idea?0 -
Thats why a lot of people went abroad for stag do's, there is less chance of being turned away from clubs (too expensive for us though). A comedy club might be good if you find out in advance if they let stag groups in.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I organised a hen night in Nottingham and the consensus from the nicer bars was that they don't generally let stag parties in (they only let us in to some because I'd visited them in advance and promised we would be well behaved!). We stayed away from places like Reflex although it was a suggestion, they give free entry to stag / hen groups anyway if you contact them in advance.
My OH had the same worries as you and organised one through a company, he has been to a few like this and has always had a fantastic time - I know he has been to Leeds and Bristol. Will check what company he used and post later on.0 -
Try looking at outward bound type places - there is often a pub nearby and you will be doing stuff like coastering, canyoning etc. I have booked loads of people into Morfa Bay Outdoor Centre a centre in Pembrokeshire, a bit basic with bunk beds but its great fun and they feed you with home cooked food. It wasnt a stag do but the group was mainly male:D
Morfa Bay does Stag does as well according to their new website.
https://www.morfabyadventure.co.uk (for the general outdoorsy type stuff) - their sister company http://www.dirtydragon.co.uk/ does the stag does etc.0
