Candlewax on tablecloth help!

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I spilt red candlewax on my lovely cream John Lewis tablecloth which was a wedding present
OH told me to let the wax cool and then pick it off and it would completely disappear. I did this and it worked.....except for one patch where it hadn't dried properly so there is a deep set pink stain.
Does anyone know an effective way of getting this out - I'm a bit sad about it and soooo annoyed that I didn't just leave it another 5 mins to cool!
Thanks

Everything will be ok in the end, if everything's not ok then it's not the end

Try ironing it onto something absorbant like brown paper or old towel & then wash it in the sink with soap & a nail brush if it will stand it.0

if you put it in the freezer, it becomes brittle and you may be able to rub it out.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Definitely put a brown paper bag over it and iron it, the paper bag will absorb it all. I had to do this with my carpet once and it worked wonders!Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0

Hi all,
I've been a bit of a klutz and have managed to pour candle wax all over my favourite tablecloth
I chucked it in the washing machine which somehow has managed to get some of it off but there is still a fair bit on there; does anyone have any ideas of how I might be able to get the wax off of the tablecloth?

What fabric is your table cloth made of?
I'd scrape off any solid stuff - if there's now any left after washing it.
You will need some brown paper and a hot iron. Put a piece of brown paper on your ironing board. Then the table cloth with the wax marks above the brown paper. Then another piece of brown paper over the top of the wax marks. Then a clean tea towel. You then go over it with your hot iron. The idea is that the teatowel protects the fabric of the tablecloth from getting damaged with too much heat and the brown paper should absorb the melted wax.
When you remove the brown paper there should be melted wax on both pieces.
Good Luck!0 -
Try covering it with a piece of brown paper and ironing it. The wax should transfer onto the brown paper.
It's worked very well for me in the past!0 -
Hi squirmy,
There are lots of suggestions on this earlier thread:
candlegrease and candle wax
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

...or you could try freezing the wax with an ice cube then chipping it off with a finger nail. Unless it is too late for that.0

Thanks everyone, the brown paper worked! Good as new :j
Thanks Pink, I couldn't see anything candle wax related when I typed it in the search for some reason...think I'm having an off day!!0
