Nicotine Patch Skin Reaction

I gave up smoking in January :j I used the nicotine patches for about a month but found that the 'fake' cigarette suited me better so switched to that.

The problem is though, that i have small dry patches of skin on both arms in the same place where i used to put the nicotine patches, even now a few months down the line i still have them but i also keep getting intense itching too.

Is this normal after not using them for so long?

OH got the red, itchy patches when he used patches and they took a good few weeks to clear.

Have you tried putting anything on them?
I'd try a bit of Sudocrem or something and if that doesn't work I'd ask at the chemist before going to the doc.
