Shopping Onlin

I recently ordered 3 items from a well known retailer - I collected the items from the store and took them home. When I opened the parcel only 2 of the items were present. Unfortunately the delivery note included all 3 items. I rang the retailer immediately to advise them, they were very apologetic and said they would send another item out next day delivery at no charge. I was billed and paid for all 3 items. I have now received a letter advising me that after further investigation they have confirmed that the item was scanned and packed and sent out - they have now billed me again for the item. I have written to them stating this is not the case. Do I have any redress at all or will I be forced to pay twice for the item?
Any help appreciated, thanks
