You're not the only one! I think there's some very crossed wires somewhere!

a friend of mine took in foreign students for a number of years. i think EFL was the main one and mostly they were ok. some are quite young; 9 or 10, some are older. they are never there when they are supposed to be, you have to do them breakfast and dinner in the evening but they like most kid type stuff, pizza etc.. the only thing she had to watch was them using the phone to call home!!! and when my daughter did for a few months, they had to watch the boys of 14 and fifteen bringing back shed loads of booze!! they had to report it in the end. some pay better than others. but if you contact your local uni, they often have adult foreign students who are no problem whatsoever, usually stay long term, and are great company. pay much better as well!!

Thanks for that - they would be boys I believe about 13 or 14 - better get plenty of pizzas and booze in then ! ( I wish ! )

Yes might have to put a phone bar on for international calls

they pay £12 a night I believe so thats £24 a night for 2 for 4 days during the week - we will just have to rough it for a while I suppose - we will try one lot for a week and see how it turns out

Good luck. I did this for a while, but sometimes was lucky enough to get the teacher's rather than the students.

It's like everthing, there are swings and roundabouts. Some kids are as good as gold, but others are a bit high spirited & want to let their hair down whilst they are away from the shackles of parents. You are provided with the phone number of the teachers, so if any problems you can't handle crop up, then give one of them a call.

When they arrive, lay down your ground rules & hopefully they will then be aware that there are rules in your house, just like there are at home.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I did it once, and only once. He was a good kid, 14 but it was difficult as i had to drive him to school everyday, and he wanted to see his mate in the evenings what was staying t another house. He was quite shy and hardly spoke. By the time you pay for food, packed lunch and you are meant to take them for a visit at the weekend too even if its just bowling, I didnt find much money in it.
