speaking of freebies - erin and i were going thru the freebies we got at Balmoral on saturday...not race freebies but from surrounding tents and stalls... we made it our mission to get as many as we could, in a tactful fashion... well that was after erin at first said to the firewoman manning her stall, "got any freebies?!"
Oh how i laughed! so did the firefighter, she gave her a bag full of stuf... water bottle, mug, ruler, pen, pencil, books to read, teatowel (a personal fave!! i love a good teatowel!) all in a drawstring gymkit bag....
we also got some pens, pencils, air freshener from the "Go green in Aberdeen" stall... (they were giving away mooncups too, lol! but i didn't get one, couldn't bring myself to)
shopping bags and nature booklets from the scottish wildlife place...
The race freebies were nothing special TBH... Kids got a goodie bag with OJ, jelly beans, and a wrist band from the sponsor, plus their tshirt (non technical fabric), medal and water at the finish.
5k/10k runners got technical t shirts, (mines is brill, just what i needed honestly!) water and a medal, and that was it.... not even a banana..... Pah!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
I have a bird in the garden, who doesn't fly away when it sees us. It was around on Saturday and I thought it may be injured, when i went to check it was gone, hiding behind the shed. Today it's on the climbing frame. Just staring, pooing lots, and not moving.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do???????LBM:FEB 2008

Maz did I say WOW on your PB time on Saturday and bless Erin and her freebies. Now why didn't you get the mooncup, you could have given it to someone as a present...I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

but you know what's spooky about erin's time
she did 1.5k in 11:12
i did 5k in 37:06
5k / 1.5k = 3.3333
11:12 x 3.3333 = 37:06!!
:eek::eek:
she runs as fast as i do already!!
I think i'm gonna nurture her running skills!
mind you, some kids did 1.5km in 6mins!! mental!!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

It's probably a newly fledged bird.
My cat brings in loads of them
The parents usually stick around and will keep feeding it until it manages to fly.
Have a look on the RSPB website and try and identify it, I'm sure this was the site I was using last yearif so, it gave an idea of how rare a species it was.
Unfortunately for the common birds, the advice is usually to just leave it alone.
The cat and I play a game...he brings it in, I release it round the corner in a neighbours garden....cat brings the same bird back and on goes the cycle.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
