Reassessment Backdated to When?

Hi, I 've got a bit of a techical question & I hope someone can help.

My OH (the NRP) wrote to the CSA by 'signed for' letter letting the CSA know that he was changing jobs in mid Dec. They say they never recieved the letter.

He waited until he had 3 months payslips & duly sent them in at the end of Feb. So that's Dec, Jan & Feb payslips.

They have started his new assessment from end of March. Is this right shouldn't it be the middle of Dec?

It seems he is being made to pay a higher rate of CSA whilst he was earning a lower rate of pay, seems wrong to me but I wondered where he stood in the CSA law.

He's questioned this & has been told if he disagrees to make an appeal.

Can someone let me know where he stands

Many thanks

I would also strongly recommend sending everything special delivery in future - the CSA seem chaotic and disorganised, at least if it's signed for then there is proof they received your letters.

    Good luck :)

    Thanks for your replies.

I've got the appeals form printed off, ready to fill in tomorrow.

Also got my disorganised husband looking for the confirmation of the signed for letter.

I'm going to try & appeal the discision before going to the MP, as this is the first time the CSA has messed up with us.

Mostly our CSA troubles have been just that the law is unjust & will feel like we've been well & truly done over - legally though!

How long does it take to hear back from an appeal?

    A signed for letter?
Royal Mail special delivery or recorded delivery?
Both can be traced on the Royal Mail website. The site will tell you when the letter was delivered to the CSA, if you input the delivery number that you were given when you posted the letter.

Special delivery is quite expensive...in the region of £4.00 I think. So, I would only use special delivery for important documents.

Recorded delivery on the other hand is much cheaper, Just over a pound I think. I would (and do!) use recorded delivery for normal letters and suchlike, when writing to the CSA

Have to tell the truth I dont think that after all the trouble I have sent back to them that they would even think about loosing a letter from me again!

Make their lives as hard as they make yours and they will learn, even if it is the hard way, and always go up the ladder even to the CEO, if you do he then takes an intrest, I know he has in mine!
