Ah the Green Gym lot: great stuff! Do they have a copy of your CV and covering letter?

    BTCV Green Gym

Probably good to know which way round the organisation's initials should appear, although I too thought of them as BCTV!

Honey, you really should know a lot more about the organisation you volunteer with in case you are asked in an interview, and more about the environmental community and voluntary sector in general.

Check this out for a start - this will link you in with a lot of 'alternative' types who will have connections to other organisations in your field. http://www.transitiontowns.org/
If your town isn't listed as having an official initiative, check out the maps here to see if there is a new group in your area http://transitiontowns.org/TransitionNetwork/Mulling

"All BTCV staff vacancies are added to this section of the website. We have a diverse number of employment opportunities within the organisation, across the network of regional and national offices in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. These include roles ranging from Environmentally based Community Project Workers to Employment Programme Officers and Youth Project Officers.
We also recruit for Administrator positions up to Project Manager roles, meaning we have jobs to suit all skills and levels of experiences.
For more information, full job descriptions and person specifications are attached to each vacancy.
If you would like to be automatically notified every time a new vacancy is added, please add your e-mail address to the Staff Vacancies Mailing List."

If there are any vacancies of interest you can use the person specifications to help compile a list of generic skills/ technical experience and design a covering letter. Then send them a CV!

  • I struggled to get a job after uni too, so I asked a local company if I could do work experience there. I did 3 days and due to my good attitude I was asked back a couple of times for help with certain jobs. After a few weeks someone there left the company and I got her job without even having to have an interview. I'm still there two years on and really like what I do. Keep at it!

Thank you guys. Thats some very good advice there Fire Fox. I am in the process of evaluating my CV and will match the job specifications to my personal skills and hopefully write up a good Coverletter.

    Thanks ;)
