Warranty on refurbished goods and consumer rights

My understanding is that all electronic goods by default have 12 months manufacturers warranty under consumer rights law.

What is the case for products described as 'refurbished' and offered for sale with for example a 90 day warranty - does this override the automatic 12 month warranty?
I think....

Not so .There's no automatic 12 month warranty enshrined or even mentioned in any Consumer law - eg Sale of Good Acts - it's provided by sellers or maufacturers in addition to , not instead of, any statutory rights you have.

The law only uses the word "reasonable" as in products should last a reasonable time - in a dispute - a judge at the small claims court may have to decide what is reasonable.

However, if you bought a reconditoned LCD tv say for £800 and it went kaput after three months you would have good grounds for free repair or some compensation as it would be expected to last longer - I don't think retailers can wash their hands of their obligations after an arbitrary three months even if they might like you to think that.
