Sister in debt and debt collectors calling!

Hello!

I was looking for a little advice. My younger sister has run up some debt with contract phones, store cards and maybe a few loans. She has been burying her head in the sand and choosen to ignore the letters they have sent her. Myself and my parents have tried to help but she has the I know best attitude.

She has now moved out of my parents house and is living with her boyfriend so she has been taken off the electoral roll at my parents house. As far as I am aware she has not listed herself on the electoral roll where she is staying at the moment.

In the last few days my parents have had some debt collectors at the door and are understandably quite worried about it

Can anyone tell me where my parents stand in this case. As my sister isnt listed there anymore do they have the right to call at my parent door?

Thanks x

All your parents can really do is to tell them that she no longer lives there. They cannot force entry to the property or remove items. If they refuse to leave after you ask them to, call the police as they are trespassing.

There is a letter somewhere on the board to request that they do not visit your property, not sure where though. The only other alternative is for them to tell where she is which will pass the problem on to her, but not sure they would want to do that.

As said, they can do nothing.

Your parents can tell them to "get lost". :)
