Mercantile Equity Mortgage Lead Company - IN ADMINISTRATION?

Hi Everyone,

I know posters have mentioned being pestered by a firm called Mercantile Equity on here before. They basically collect your details from Web Enquiry Forms and then sell the leads on to mortgage brokers - like me.

Well they seem to have completely disappeared and whilst I have been unable to verify this as yet, all phone lines are down and Directors' mobiles not being answered.

Consumers: you probably have nothing to worry about, Mercantile did not give advice or hold your money, they just made introductions to Mortgage Advisers.

Mortgage Advisers: It looks like I've lost £750 (money paid up front for a campaign of 10 client meetings) and am currently trying to recover this. If they owe you money you may be in the same boat.

If anyone knows anything as to what's happened to them I'd be very glad of the information. We're a small firm just doing an honest job for our clients and cashflow is especially vital to us at the moment.

Apologies if this comes across as a bit Business to Business but if any consumers have been dealing with Mercantile then you may find this useful too.

Many thanks,
Sam

    Sam,

I'm in exactly the same boat. They asked for my £750 just before they went under, and said that the only way they could take the payment was by a bank transfer because the card machine was down, so I can't even speak with the credit card company to claim it back. Exteremly underhand!

I've been chasing Mercantile for a while now but I keep getting false promises. I've been assured that the MD is calling me tomorrow morning with an update, but I'll not be holding my breath for that one...

I remember them, we used them or tried them. Really poor after getting good feed back. I guess they have been hit like everybody else.

In my new industry we are being careful about who we work for without upfront payment. So many business are in trouble. We have had 6 go under this year and owe us a fair bit. That does not sound a lot, but we are not a big firm.
