Good suggestions so far! Is the egg fried with egg/chips/beans?
The earlier pasta recipe I might try but I've never really liked the thought of pasta with beans. I tend to prefer beans with potato/bread.
I will try the poached fish one too! thanks0 -

Quorn spag bol, it costs about £4-5 to make a huge pot filled with veggys.
I make mine with lean steak mince usually but also with quorn etc.
I don't know the quantities as i make from taste but the ingredients i use are:
Tomato puree(33p tesco one)
Garlic fresh or pureed( i use puree as it is easier is about £1-1.50 a tube)
Tin cheap chopped tomatoes(30p)
2-3 handfuls peppers(i buy a large frozen bag for £1 i get loads from this)
1 onion
handful of chunky chopped mushrooms(about 50-70p)
sprinkle of italian dried herbs(optional but adds yumminess)(i use schwartz cost me £1.20 for a refill lasts forever and does pizzas as well)
either a jar of dolmio or ragu or a large carton of passata(passata is cheaper but the bol will need more flavouring)
Glug of water to make a bit thinner
I let it simmer for 20-30 mins then serve or re-heat, then bag and freeze(does me about 6-8 large portions).0 -
My husband just made us a giant Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy. He had sausages too. Very cheap and very filling.0

What about fish and mash with parsley sauce or butter sauce mmmm very comforting food, you could even make cheesy mash or make champ with it.0

What about baked beans on toast with an egg on top - scrummy if the yoke is running.

when we used to have the caravan ,we used to make a one pot dinner ,
we would have some lamb mince (substitute this with soya mince ) a tin of potatoes ,a tin of carrots and a tin of peas ,we used to cook this altogether in a pot then add a touch of gravy it was lovely,
you could change this with some fish ,cheese sauce, peas and sweetcorn all done in the one pot then top with mash0 -
