  • I think this one was in one of the mail on sundays magazines when she was advertising her book, so I don't think she'd be too worried about the copyright as she put it in a newspaper to up sales of her book!
Thanks for the recipe though as it was one I meant to save, how can anyone keep the bags of maltesers for a cake - they are so eatable!!
  • I made this yesterday and it is HUGE. And gorgeous. And I can't stop eating it. It makes 14 really generous sized slices and between us DDs 1 and 2, me and DD's father (my ex) have eaten over half of it. I think I will have to take some bicarb and water because I have a "touch" of indigestion!! It is a lovely cake though and I have frozen the rest in single portion sizes for the sake of my hips!! I reckon it is good value too - cost me 37p for the maltesers, and 42p for the butter (half an 83p packet). Rest of the stuff was from the storecupboard and it looked really impressive. I didn't use the brown sugar either - just used granulated and it was fine.

I made this when the recipe was posted to cheer a friend up who loves malteasers. My oven shelves are a bit wonky though and as the batter is quite runny, it wandered off so that each cake was sloping when cooked, when I put them together the top one kept sliding off, there was a comedy moment trying to get the icing to set while balancing one side of the plate on a cook book to try and even it up :o

Then on the journey to deliver the cake the top layer escaped onto my lap.

However, it had an eventful but short life as it was absolutely lovely and I helped friend to eat it :D
