The problem is/was our biggest industry was the finance sector
and look what it has done imploded
A large service industry was built up around this which is now also imploding
We need to get back to what can we make...
learn How to stop this happening in future
stop thinking of a house as a profit...it`s a home
invest in jobs that will be around in 20+ years and can adapt to market forces
And learn mostly to live within our means
Regardless of who`s in power..the message has to get across , learn from it..move on
At the moment, i feel there will be a small boom, and then if its not sorted an even bigger crash in year or so“When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.” Socrates

Personally, I think that the media hype is largely responsible for many of the problems this and other countries now face.
Suse, the banks shouldnt have been lending money to people who couldnt afford to may it back and equally it people who couldnt afford to borrow should not have been encouraged as they where to borrow.
But I think that it is the media "view" that the we are all doomed financially that to a large degree has made us all doomed financially.
There is now ammasing and increasingly strong evidence that we GET what we focus on. Qhantum mechanics, states that the THought determines to a large degree the outcome. If we focus on debt and loss and depression then that is what we get, as an individual, as a coutry as a species.
Personally, when I see any good news news, I read it and focus on it.
It makes me feel good, and if I feel good, I function bettter, perform better, enjoy my day more, enjoy my life more, have more friends as a result, have more work as a result, have more money as a result. AS a result of all this feel good, I am greatful and in a place of gratitude, seems to come better performance still, bringing further rewards.
In summary, I fel that if you focus on what you can do, can establish control over, can improve, can do, can enjoy, can ehlp out with, then you will feel better. Whatever the TRUE state of the worlds ecomony, if YOUR world feels better, then you will be better equpped to deal with the worlds "reality" - if we ever find out what that is........ :T
Good luck everyone with everything. And remember, whatever happens this time will passm and we wiull handle it! :T0 -
Yes, of course, the bank policies on lending were the major cause of this recession but what a great job the media did of talking us deeper and deeper into the mire. Never ending doom and gloom and continual brainwashing style comment really did not help an already very serious situation.
So, maybe it is time that someone began to talk us back out of recession! Don't let's knock anyone for trying to breathe a little hope and optimism into our world. We need all the help we can get!
We will come through in the end and some positive thinking for a change can only be beneficial.0 -
Not for me it isn't. I'm self employed and my last contract ended in September. Since then I've worked in Boots over Christmas and gone for any temp work I could find; a total of 14 days!
It's about time that those at the helm looked around them and saw the carnage that's going on.0 -

I agree. THinking better, makes performance better, makes feeling better, makes life better.
Life is not whathappens to us, it is what we DO with what happens to us. And i chose to lie in a world where I ignore the bad and focus on the posititve. Its a nice place to be, i hope many chose to come join me there.
To those that are affecteed badly, I hope you can view the future with some positivity. I wish you well and good fortune.0 -
We have a long road to follow before we get out of Recession Valley. I think Mr Darling has rose-tinted spectacles (and those only worked for John Lennon and Yoko Ono).0
