Coach Hire

The Chaplain from my work is marrying us and when we went to see him on Monday he explained that he would be able to ask for the use of his local church for us to get married in. We didn't think we'd be able to get married in a church because he works for the hospital and doesn't have his own parish so we are now excited that we are able to do this. Our own Catholic church won't marry us as OH has been married previously so we had resigned ourselves to getting married in the hotel.
The only thing is the added expense that this will bring. My mum has said she will pay for cars for us but the hotel is quite a bit away from the church so we are thinking that we will need to put on a coach to ship our guests from church to hotel.
I'm hoping that most people will take their cars to the church and then drive to the hotel and leave them there but there will be some people who will require transport.
Does anyone have any idea how much it costs to hire a coach? I'm just looking for a rough figure to see how it's going to fit into the budget!!!!
Thanks in advance and sorry for warbling on!

Hi, I'm not of much help.. but we are also having the same problem as you! We have people that would need transport from church to reception, and was hoping to hire a vintage bus for transport. I think the cheapest quote we have been given for a vintage bus was £395, and I think that seated around 70 people. x0

Nat do you know how far it is from church to hotel? MY oh used to work for a coach company and he say's it would probably be at least £300 if it was just from 1 place to the other for 1 coach and not ferrying people about) where are you? (PM me and we can keep it private if you'd prefer)
crdnll going by what my oh has told me that is a good price esp for a vintage bus.
Been a few months since my oh worked for the bus co so others may be able to advise you better.Booo!!!0 -
violetta, thanks
we really had no idea how much they generally cost.. so it's good to know that's a good quote.. I just hope we manage to save enough to do it!

Hi Violetta, thanks for that. £300 is a lot! We are in Fife will be travelling from Kirkcaldy to Kinghorn which is about 3.5 miles from the church to the hotel.

Hi nat that doesn't sound that far I'll ask oh in the morning for any info. But depending on numbers you might be worth asking a cab company for a few quotes think a lot of them do people carriers & minibus' anyhoo I should be in my bed.Booo!!!0

Thanks! There could be 70 people needing transported if none of them make their own way there.0

There are some bus companies that have 70 seater bus's (not many though) oh suggested it might be worth checking football fixture lists for the day see who is playing locally and some of the companies might have a bus in the area waiting about on supporters at a match (sounds a bit complicated to me) ie if Dundee are playing Raith rovers there might be a Dundee bus down in the area with a few hours to spare. (just telling you what he said
) which may bring the cost's down esp with the smaller companies.

That's a good idea! Knowing my luck Raith Rovers will be playing away that day! Lol! Thanks for all your help!

Glad you understand what I was saying he was saying iykwim lol.
I forgot to sayit's so lovely that youre getting the church wedding you really want it will be worth all these wee niggles & worries and you have a whole year to sort it out. We have just under 4 months!!! But it's all coming together.Booo!!!0 -
Hi
Congrats on getting Church wedding you wanted!
Have you thought about getting a smaller coach/mini bus and doing shuttle runs between the venues as it's not too far?
My friend is hiring a mini bus to take guests to and from hotel and venue which is about 3 miles. I think it seats 15 at time (but not sure) but it's only costing her £150. This is for the morning to take people there and then again in the evening to take people back to hotel so thought she'd done well there with price.
