Automatic Tax Rebate?

My Dad took early retirement before the end of the tax year and I think he is entitled to a tax rebate - will this come automatically now we are into the start of the new tax year? Or does he have to write to them?

He cannot sent a current P60 as he was not employed at the end of the tax year so what would he need to send them instead?

Thanks

He should have received a P45 which shows the pay and tax to date of leaving. Send the original P45 - keep the part 1a - and send to the tax office. Also send in a covering letter explaining what income, if any, has been received since retirement or let them know if no income received.

If you go on the HMRC website there are instructions on how to find which tax office to write to
