Debt Collectors Wrongly Pursing Me For Money (Help!)

Buchanan Clerk and Wells are wrongly pursuing me for £68 from British Gas dated upto Nov2008. I left the property in 14th Aug 2008 and paid my bill then. I sent a copy of my rental agreement to British gas to prove I wasn't even living at that address at that time and they were supposed to tell the collection agency to stop but told them yesterday to carry on (or so the collectors say). I have phoned the debt collection company and told them I don't owe them anything and have sent proof to British Gas I told them to stop sending me letters otherwise I would treat it as intimidation. They have sent me 7 letters so far. Can anybody help in what I should do and who can I report the debt collectors to for wrongful practices?
Thanks in advance.

Have BG agreed t osend written confirmation stating that you don't owe anything? I think that woud be the first thing i would do - get something in writing. If they refuse, send a formal letter of complaint to them then report them to the energy regulator.
I would try this before having a go at the DCA - it's usually difficult to get them to listen if you have all the paperwork. Without it i think you may be wasting your breath on them. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
