Presents for parents

I am planning to get our parents something to say thank you. His are paying for the holiday, mine are paying for the reception so both have given substantial amounts. I am really stuck though trying to find something suitable which is related to the wedding and not just general.

Whatever I get also has to be light enough to go into my luggage to give to them in Cyprus.

I have thought wedding photos but we are giving them some prints anyway, flowers just not enough, perfume just for the mothers, statues to heavy. I really have no ideas!

What are others giving to their parents to say thanks?

I'd take having to take the prezzies to Cyprus out of the equation and give them a card then with a note saying 'gift to follow back home', or whatever is polite/correct etiquette!

We'll be visiting my mum and stepdad's favourite pottery on honeymoon so will get them something then. I'm not sure if this approach is suitable for everyone but neither of us has particularly traditional parents who want things done the 'right way'.
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

I agonised for ages over gifts for the parents.
In the end we went with engraved silver frames for the mothers (cheap on ebay!) and tankards for the fathers (one will use it for drinking, other already has a display of a few).
The tankards aren't really what I had in mind, but I can't think of anything else!
There are lots of websites out there with some good ideas though. Try 'wedding party gifts' as a search.

  • Your post just prompted me to go and sort out what I wanted to get our parents. I can't post what it is though as my Mum is also a MSEr !!

I've seen some nice personalised mirror compacts on ebay like this and what about a nice hipflask with an engraving on it for the dad's.
    Booo!!!
