Its whats keeps your employers ar*e out of court ;)

Perhaps I'll have mine soon then. Only been working for the council since 1981:D.

Now our new employees have an induction course but it's really a welcome to the council.

    Keep calm

I have a problem with a member of staff who is a cow towards me and she's been told off about it, and....... has been told off before about her attitude and behavior before i came to the office, she's started being a cow again and I'm the one under review for month because i am not performing up to scratch, i go down this madam is going with me, and if she is a MSE member reads this and figures it's her....... your cards are marked dear, diary has been kept, complaints also from other members of staff.

She has made my life hell.

So OP i doubt very much it's you, people are under alot of stress lately, but there is really no need for anyone to take it out on others.
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

Or maybe they had a point.

Moaning because you didnt have your Health and Safety induction on day 1. maybe in MSE world people have time but in the real world its not always the case.

And maybe the OP is annoyingly loud.

no - moaning because i havent had HS induction in week 4 - nearly finiished

i take your comment and did ask colleagues about my voice. they have no problems. the guy who complained is never off the phone and he is annoyingly loud. Perhaps he's you?

Are you sure there isn't any office politics going on you don't know about? I take it you were interviewed by the the office manager guy or have you just been dumped on him? If so perhaps he doesn't want you there.

Also were you appointed by the book? Perhaps you impressed them at the interview, an exception was made and now the guy who thinks your loud may be thinks you've pinched either his or someone else's promotion? Perhaps you've been setup for a fall without realizing it?

thanks everyone - the idea of sending stuff to my private email address is a great one - fantastic tip!

little better today - but still no h&s induction. Oh and btw the guy who should do my h&s induction is not my manager. But I guess my manager is responsible for making sure it is done.

REading the original post brings back some memories of nightmare companies i worked in the past.

In one, like the poster, I sat near someone once who moaned whenever i had a personal call (reminding me of the company policy on mobiles), even though i usually had two personal calls a week and these were either usually during my lunch hour or at 4.30 for on a friday! What was worse was that person spent the week on personal calls, mainly planning their wedding (to which i wasnt invited, and was devastated they had heavy rain that day!).

I then had another workplace where i felt i was being watched everywhere. I was in a photocopying room the other side of this large office block when my mobile rang and my parents warned me of heavy traffic on my main route home. I got back to my desk and was interrogated on why id been on my phone! I went to HR to complain and when i got back could hear the HR woman on the other phone reporting back to my line manager what id said about her! In that place people even refused to wish me a happy christmas despite me saying it several times in a friendly way.

The point is It just happens sometimes, and when i left those two places i went on with the same approach and had no problems at all in my new workplaces. I reckon theres nothing wrong with you nor the approach you have at work, but its strange how when other people are professionally rude to you, you can end up thinking ur in the wrong, which is not the case.

I think the advice about the diary is good, and also the advice to keep your cool, but, you have a right to be happy at work as its where you will spend a large part of the week.

Either things will sort themselves out as you settle in and get to know people, or you maybe will just realise through no thought of your own its not the workplace for you.

Id keep your head down and do your best in this job but no harm if you are unhappy in considering a plan b and keeping an eye on whats out there.
