How can the economy recover by end of this year...

... when this is the worst recession since the 1920's depression???????

Because after shrinking it will grow again. The car scrap scheme will boost the economy this year.

It's impossible, but the Labour government are now finished, so they don't care what they, and neither do we. The country is on it's knees, and will be for a long time.

It's just a matter of basic economics, as the things like the housing construction bottom, the inventory bottom decline come to an end, drags on the GDP end without anything very much recovering. For the first year of "recovery" it can feel very much like a recession, even if GDP goes positive.

In addition, you can get a false positive on GDP if you are in a period of deflation, since deflation is added to GDP.

The whole is a joke, you have gordon brown making token gestures on mps second allowance to try and appease the growing public discern, its still laughable though if they are in parliment the maximum amount of days the actual amount will be more than they recieved before and lets face it even working full time the majority of people dont earn £25,000 a year more like half that surely it would be cheaper if they bought a bloody hotel next to parliment and told them to stay in that.
And as for the car scrapage sheme well thats fine if you have the remaining disposable income to be able to afford the rest of the cash and there is six of us altogerther it makes it impossible to be able to do this.
My husband was made redundant 8 weeks ago and so we have ahd to claim JSA first time ever, it is a joke though he was told to find three jobs a week as an electician okay fine he was looking for more than that anyway but over the last two weeks there has been one job for an electrician and the next nearest job was 80 miles away now he may have been on a reasonable wage if he took it but cost of fuel or public transport would of made it ridiculous.
The economy is a mess yet they still say it will be over by the end of the year there might start to be a slight increase in growth but its going to take 10 years to recover from this so lets all say a mighty thanks to blair/brown for making britain what it is!!!!

Cameron will probably be more savage with public spending cuts. The issue Cameron has in his favour though is he can legitimately claim that he is trying to clear up Labour's mess when he is raising taxes and cutting spending, obviously Brown and the Labour Party can make no such claims, therefore Cameron will be given 'time' by the electorate and have a stronger mandate to do the 'dirty work'.

That's pretty much what Osborne was saying this morning. He also said that he was unlikely to be reversing the 50% tax for high earners as he would be focusing instead on the hike in NI for those on a more moderate income.
