Have received my first Self assesment documents . Is it easier to fill online?. I've only had a peep at it but a couple of questions, do I have to upload any supporting documents, i.e my P45 from last year b4 I went pasrt time self employed, any statements regarding savings/investments etc, that sort of thing. If so I haven't got a clue how to do it as I don't have a scanner. As I only earned 6k last year excluding my pension do I qualify for a short S.A, cheers

You just need to work through the form bit by bit and carefully. You dont send any evidence with your self assessment (hence its name) - HMRC will only want to see evidence if they open an enquiry. You just need to enter details of your turnover, expenses and net profit.

I found the online version much easier.
  • Online was a doddle compared to the prospect of completing THAT form!
