Very plus size MoB on a budget - help!

Hi ladies
If you've noticed my posts here you'll know that my daughter has just decided to get married next summer in Gibraltar!
I'm so pleased for her and I'm very involved in the research for her, looking with interest at the 'Maggie' and 'Landy' threads, researching how to make invitations etc. etc.
My thoughts have turned to my own outfit, I am on a very limited budget and having to fund a trip to Gibraltar has eaten a great chunk out of it so I'm on the look out for an outfit that will do her proud but not break the bank.
I am 5'4" and size 28 and therein lies the problem!
If anyone can point me in the direction of anywhere that can supply me with a gorgeous wedding outfit that will make me feel a million dollars (big ask!) for a reasonable sum I will be eternally grateful!
Oh, in case it helps the bridal party colours (I think) are aqua blue and yellow.

Check the first one out quickly as they sell really quick at this price, also all items are priced seperately.

Oops sorry the first one has gone but the site is worth keeping a check on as when they do sales they can be really good.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
Have you checked out the Marisota website? They have some lovely dresses on there that go up to a size 32. Something like this might be nice with a co-ordinating pashmina/wrap thingy. They had some lovely knitted boleros on the evans and simplybe websites (these also go up to size 32) This dress was £65.

Good luck with finding something suitable! Its not always easy for us larger ladies but I'm sure you will find something perfect with a little hunting around

Have popped over a PM to another board that might help you out.

I've just seen this on the Simply be site it's £70 it's lovely in the ivory. They have some nice stuff on there. This is nice too they have it in marine so might match its £60, this is nice and a bit better priced at £30 but not sure if the colours would suit, the grey is nice.
If the wedding is not til next summer it might be worth waiting til the sales are onat the end of this summer, unless you find THE outfit.
My poor MIL to be has bought 4 outfits so far!!! (no not rich) but she is an odd shape, with a narrow chest and large bottom half, not being nasty saying this, she is prob a 16 accross the chest and a 30 on bottom. Wish I could help her find something to suit her.
Being a size 26 I have every sympathy thank goodness for Landy- Milly.Booo!!!0 -
Just wondering if you had any luck yet?Booo!!!0

Hi Violetta
I'm still looking!
I've found some nice stuff on Marisota and Simply Be. Marisota seems to have more 'formal' type stuff.
I'm going to a couple of shops that I've been told carry over size 24 in a couple of weeks, they're not local so need a day trip.
I can't decide properly because my daughter isn't fixed on her colours yet, she thinks she wants a sort of ocean or sky blue but won't be sure till she's sorted her bm's out. She's getting married abroad so is waiting to see if people can afford to come.
I'm also hoping to lose a little weight before I buy (yeah, yeah I know ;/) if I can lose a couple of sizes there may be a little more choice.
If I can get an idea of cost at least I can sort my budget out, don't do credit so need to start saving.0 -
There is a chain of shops called Size Up, they sell a lot of ex-Evans stuff at bargain prices. I think this link takes you to their other company. Maybe look in the Yellow Pages for a Size Up shop near you?

Hi Allie,
Thanks for that link it's a great website but the nearest shop is over 80 miles away
There's nothing 'weddingy' there at the minute - but there's lots of stuff to tempt my wallet :0
I'll certainly be keeping this in my bookmarks!0 -
Thanks for that link - I've found a store near me so may be taking a (non-wedding related) detour into town soon!
To the OP I feel your pain - I'm getting married March next year, refuse to wear a wedding dress but would like something semi-posh to make the day feel nice, and as a size 26 can I find anything? Can I heck! Have held off buying anything major though as just started going to the gym so my size may well vary between now and then.
One thing I'll say though is I'm so glad these plus size stores are springing up as I think Evans had a stranglehold for too long and priced/qualitied to show their insane market dominance (seriously how do you sell a pair of jeans where ONE leg shrinks in the wash? That takes skill). Heck even the supermarkets are putting plus size clothes in now which is one helluva nice change.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
