Definitely agree with this, though not the rest, especially the forced kidney donation bit
Why not the forced kidney donation bit? All the latest scientific research says it doesn't actually reduce quantity of life, and it's not like I'm suggesting they do it with blunt knives or without anasthetic. If they can pay for their crimes another way, that's fine. I just don't think I should be paying to put them in jail.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I have some ideas.....
1. Stop giving kids stationery at school - get the parents to buy it from tesco - I bet across the whole country this would save at least a million (and if you look after the millions the billions will take after themselves lol)
2. Have all motorway lights turned off for an extra hour a day - put them on 1/2 hour later and turn off 1/2 hour earlier - can you imagine the cost of the power they use.
3. *controversial* End IVF on the NHS - not being able to conceive is terrible but it's not life threatening.
4. Cut the love in with Capita
5. Govt deparments shouldn't be allowed to spend money on Google Adwords - the NHS spends over £10,000 a year just advertising their anti-smoking services when they top the Google rankings anyway.
I could go on and on.Everything will be ok in the end, if everything's not ok then it's not the end

Sadly many parent just wouldn't bother.

Fine assuming that it's still safe.......

The least controversial one with me. Time for the NHS to focus on resolving serious health problems - not helping people with their lifestyle choices. I can understand the need for health care during pregnancy / child birth but don't understand why I should pay for somebody else to have IVF. While we are at it, can we also scrap child benefit and child tax credits?
4. Cut the love in with Capita
Agreed.

With you there too..........0 -

Er. I have gone into right wing mode big time over the last few months (gradually since joining here?), sick of wastage, high taxes, etc.Plasticman wrote: »3. *controversial* End IVF on the NHS - not being able to conceive is terrible but it's not life threatening.

BUT.
There are some things in life which go beyond 'normal' expenditure, and granting a childless couple a hope of having a baby is towards the top of my particular 'worthwhile' things list.

Just scrap the lot then I suppose. If anyone wants to complain the relevant authority will probably no longer exist to complain to.:rolleyes:After years of disappointment with get-rich-quick schemes, I know I'm gonna get rich with this scheme...and quick! - Homer Simpson0

I'm naturally more 'left wing'. I also have experience of needing fertility treatment from the NHS, but I still think it's wrong to expect the tax payer to pick up the bill. I don't believe that the tax payer should fund other people's kids through child benefit either (although I do claim it as we are currently entitled!!)0
