Im looking for a mortgage for a first home. I applied at experian and my credit score is 927 .I had loan for 5000 (settled) , car loan ..still 3 000 to pay .On my credit report however there is a £90 fine from court...i have paid but its still on the file...also there is a 6 months late payment history on my profile..
I earn 25 000/year , work as nurse so job secure ,has been with employer for 6 years, has been with same bank for 10 years
I have no credit cards or store cards.I want to apply for a mortgage of between 100-120 000 for a house .Im worried to that if i go to the wrong lenders i might spoil it for myself.
i have 5000-7000 deposit
please help...i dont know whether to go straight to the bank...or go to estates agents

firstly, your deposit isn't enough for a purchase of £100k as there are no schemes out there over 90% lending I'm afraid (sorry)

You would also need to be squeeky clean at 90% as the banks, lets face it, are not over keen to lend at that level (again sorry).

As a nurse you may qualify for certain key worker schemes and the like, I would speak to an independant, whole of market broker who knows there onions first of all.
    Happily an ex mortgage broker!

Your employers will be able to provide up to date details on special schemes for you, also it doesn't matter if a bank is government rescued, you still have to meet their credit scoring criteria to get a mortgage!

.....which in all fairness is probably less likely than a non "lunatics in charge of the asylum" bank I'm afraid.
