Hi Everyone,

I have a wireless network at home which consists of an old HP Media Centre PC (running Windows XP) and my brother's newish iMac (running OS X 10.5.6) - for which I'm sure I begged advice on here on how to set it up in the first place! The PC is wired into a Netgear Rangemax DG834PN Wireless Router and the iMac connected to it wirelessly via airport. I set this wireless network up last summer and both computers have connected fine to it since then - the iMac occasionally loses signal for a few seconds but it's never too bad.

A few weeks ago however the signal strength on the iMac started to become really poor - it would only stay on for a few minutes before going off for several minutes. Around the same time I started getting a lot of page load errors and address not found errors on both computers, they became very slow online and trying to watch streams or youtube videos became impossible for buffering.

My brother turned the iMac on a little while ago and it connected to the internet but came up with some kind of message stating that the IP address was already in use but it connected to the internet anyway. When I returned to my PC, however, a message came up stating there was an IP conflict or DCHP conflict. I had found that going to internet options and clicking Repair sometimes speeded things up on the PC so I tried this but it got stuck on renewing IP address. It now says Limited or No Connectivity and that the problem is because the network did not assign a network name to the computer.

I have tried putting in a different IP address manually via TCP/IP settings but this has not worked. I would be grateful for any help to sort this mess out. I'm writing this post from the iMac which is still vaguely connected. Thanks a lot.

Regards

Michelle
