If you're not happy with yours, can I have them? I ordered them and got a confirmation email but didn't get the strawberries. Emailed them but no response.0

Organic wannabe: how did your strawberry plants turn out?
I read on another thread that someone had been out and counted 250 strawberries in their garden. So I went out and counted mine and I've got 7!!!!! On 6 plants. Some have none at all, and the rest have about 3 or 4 each :-(Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Organic wannabe: how did your strawberry plants turn out?
Dont Know about Organic Wannabe's Strawberrys but my Mr Fothergill Freebies are blooming. They have filled right out and all are bearing Fruits (Still Green) and still Flowering. Without Counting I'd say approx 50+ berries. They are also developing Runners... So i'll pot them up and get some more plants for next year.

A Runner looks like a long thin stem growing out of the side of your plants which develops small leaves then roots. If you pop the end into a little pot and secure it down you'll end up with a new plant.

You could use the growbags whilst begging and borrowing pots from friends to put the runners in and then give away. Someone at the allotment gave me 12 runners last year and I was extremely grateful0

Thanks Mrs Chips. So are the runners for this year, or next year? And if they have room, can I not just leave them to establish new plants in the part of the garden set aside for my strawberries?Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Thanks Mrs Chips. So are the runners for this year, or next year?
Your Runners will produce plants for Next Year.... Mine are growing in a Pot so i'm going to set the runners into smaller pots and then re-plant them when they are big enough. After reading that Website that I linked to it seems to suggest that you should pot them up even if they are in the ground??
I'm not 100% sure... It's my first time with Strawberries!!2009 Savings & Winnings so far....Pigsback £15.06 +[strike]£40[/strike] M&S Vouchers + £20 New Look + TNS £15 Capital Bonds + Qype Ninja Goodies + £50 Virgin VoucherSealed Pot Challenge #589 - Target £1500 -
In the wild strawberries do not look for little pots to plant their runners in
Pots are what growers use to make plants to sell on.
If youre happy where the runners are, pin them down and cut them free of the parent after a couple of months.Freedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).
