Redundancy if contracting for over 12 months?

I contracted (about 4 contracts were renewed in total, no new contracts sent out though) with one agency contracted out to Company A.

I was made redundant 4 days before my latest contract (dates were just confirmed in emails) finished. I was paid until that date. It has been suggested to me by a couple of people that if you are working for a company for more than 12 months you are treated like a perm employee and should receive redundancy, is this true?

I was there for just shy of 2 years.

You weren't made redundent, they choose not to extend your contract - that you signed up to. As a contractor you do not have the same rights as a perm employee, so no paid sickness, holidays, in return contractors generally earn better rates than their permenent colleagues.

If companies had to pay contractors redundancy and give them other employee benefits then there would be no advantage to them in hiring contractors.

Might be different if you were PAYE through an agency but Im assuming you're not.

I don't know about the contracting issue but you need to be working for a company for 2 years to get any redundancy.
