Just incase marie is genuine and others are in a similar situation, your credit rating wil not be wiped clean at the end of your DMP.
You may have defaults on your file which only come off after 6 years and even if only missed payments are listed, they will have an impact on your credit score for a further 2 years after the DMP is completed. This is because even though you are making payments via the DMP, you are not paying the contractually agreed amount and so will be classed as having missed a payment each month until the DMP is completed. After this your credit file will show the accounts as settled, but these missed payments will still have an impact until enough time has passed that new creditors do not see this as a problem. After 1 year it should only have a slight impact on your credit rating, but after 2 years the impact it would have should be negligible if it is just missed payments. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Hi I thought a little bit of an update would be a good idea.
Today I have been back to the CCCS and started afresh. I gave them details of just my debts and my benefit income as it is me who deals with all the bills of this household as my hubby is Self Employed and being affected by the economic climate so he cannot commit to a regular income plus he has his own debts to deal with - which I cannot afford to pay as well! Strange as it may seem to most we chose to live separate financial lives even though we are married and it affects our credit score jointly in most circustances. We have tried before to live under 1 roof an have a joint bank account and that is partly why we are in this mess now!
Anyway CCCS have given me a Hardship helpline number for the gas and electricity supplier as we are behind with them so I am going to give them a ring later today.
The advice CCCS gave me today was similar to what they have previously said, showing we have little surpless income (having cut down already) so we can only offer £1 as a token payment.
I had previously stated I cannot see how this will help us in the long run but having given it a re-think after speaking to CCCS today I think it is the best option given the fact of the current credit crunch making more companies aware more people are in trouble now. Kind of like I dont feel alone out of depth and being harshly judged I suppose.
I have a letter to send and a copy of my new SOA which I am going to print out and send today.
I have also been advised to try and claim back the PPI on my CC which I don't understand but with help from you knowledgeable folk out there I am sure I can tackle it.
I also still have not done any more to reclaim my bank charges, things have go on top of me in the last 8 months and I suppose I really burried my head in the sand again. However now I am determined to get this all sorted and have the bank statements all ready I just need to find out what I can and cant claim for (its so confusing as the wording on my statements are totally different to those in the advice given online, I think that is why I keep giving up to be honest!)
One thing at a time and I think I have started to make a breakthrough today so thanks everyone so far for the help and support. If anyone can help me through the PPI and bank chages reclaim (for free lol) that would be my next step I woluld appreciate.
Many thanks

I have another question (sorry) as I am now writing the letters to my CC, do I send them to address on the statement or is there a separate department / address that will deal with it quicker?
Thanks
