Hi all

I can't believe I haven't found this site sooner! It's so reasurring reading everyone else's posts esp the ones were people are now debt free.
I have felt for the last 3 years that I will never be debt free and that i literally work for nothing.
A bit about my debt:
I decided when I was 18 a credit card would be a good idea (for emergencies!). I then decided when this was maxed out to transfer the balance and cut up the old card...which I never did. Now when both of these credit cards became maxed out I decided to get a loan...then I get yet another credit card with a limit of £1,200. A year later that credit cards limit had reached £10,200....thanks Halifax!
So at my worst point I had about 10 creditors to whom I owed a total of around £26,000 plus hire purchase of a MG which I ended up paying £17,000 for and later selling it for £2,000!
Then when the outgoings became more than the incoming I decided this had to stop.
I am now on a DMP with Payplan and have been since 2007. To date I have paid just under £10,000 and have about that to go again.
I am just glad that I can now talk to people in similar situations as there are so many times my debt gets the better of me and I become so down.

Well done for what you have achieved so far.
You're using a free company for your DMP which is great and you seem, from your post, to have learnt the money lesson.
Congrats0 -
Hi Kelly, welcome to MSE. Well done for clearing so much debt already! My story is similar to yours, it's just far too easy to get credit and seems like a great idea when you're young and stupid (I'm calling myself stupid, not you lol)
This site is brilliant for support and advice. Boo.x0 -
