Personal Tax Refund ???

Hi, I wonder if anyone could offer some help/advice.
I have just recieved a letter from Investment Recovery Services Ltd stating that they would act on my behalf for a potential personal tax refund. (It has something to do with some shares I bought a long long time ago.)
Is this a genuine company or are they dodgy?
If I am due this refund is it something I can do myself for free and how do i go about it ? (Investment Recovery Services charge 25% - no win no fee)?
Any help would be appreciated - I'm a little

Do NOT use this company, you can do this for free yourself by writing to HMRC.0

There are plenty of companies set up to do sometimes simple tasks who then take a huge percentage of the money you get back. For example companies set up to claim the 2002/03 childrens tax credits would take around £100 or more to do the claim for you wich simply involved filling in a form and sending it to the rev.0
