  • Hi
Big one on a Sunday at Smithfield market in Openshaw, M11 people comes from miles around, being going for years.

    Hope this helps
  • The one at Bowlers is rubbish (in my opinion)!
It's full of businesses selling clothes, sportswear, jewellry etc.....There are usually only a couple of actual carbooters!

I tend to keep my eye in the local freepaper, they usually all start up around easter time, the best ones are usually church carboots, or hospital carboots, where there are hundreds of stalls.

    Happy Hunting!/ Selling!

that's really useful to know in advance - thank you!
here's hoping we start getting the free paper through the door again, they seem to have stopped recently for some reason. I know that they've had some at Hough End playing fields before, will have ot keep my eyes open for signs!

Have a look in your free local paper, they usually advertise in there. If you haven't had one delivered, you can normally buy a copy from the local papershop. The one at Smithfield market used to be good I went a few years ago

The Burnage one has been cancelled by the Council as people were abusing it & selling on the streets!! They are only allowed 14 a year now which is a shame.

I think the best one is due to start in a few weeks - Chelford Car Boot. Run by a local farmer it is massive in the summer - he has them in his fields and they are always advertised in the MEN.

Otherwise there is one at Carrington on a Wednesay & Sunday which is often good - depends who is there of course.

This weekend coming there is one at St Ambrose Boys School in Hale which is always a good one as far as I'm concerned as I have two boys!!

A good car boot is the one at Bowlee Community Park in Middleton. It starts again on the 21st May. It's all proper car boot stuff with no market traders selling new stuff.
  • Ashton-under-Lyne market is open to all those wanting to hold a stall to sell your unwanted items on most Sundays. You need to ring the market a week in advance to reserve your stall for the following Sunday, but its better than freezing in the open air.
