Car Insurance - Bad credit history

I have already posted this in the Insurance section, but hoping somebody here could help also.
Helloo guys.
I am just about to buy my very first car, however i am a little unsure if i can pay my car insurance monthly due to my bad credit history.
I have a CCJ, a silly mistake when i was 18, it was satisfied within a year and is due to come off in March 2011 - so has been satisfied for 3 years now. I also have a few defaults, again a silly mistake in my teens. Since these silly mistakes:mad: i have been very good with money and everything is paid on time. I have been looking at car insruance and would ideally like to pay it monthly, Tesco so far has worked out cheapest for me, £590, so would be £59 a month.
Has anybody with bad credit been able to get car insurance on pay monthly?
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Many thanks

I have had shocking credit ratings over the years and have never been refused direct debits for my car insurance.
I worked in insurance some time ago and we never credit checked anyone and when I did my last insurance renewal online at no point was a credit check mentioned or agreed to.

I didn't see it mention anything about credit checking either, so hopefully that means they don't credit check. Why would they need to really, if you don't pay it every month you technically have no car insurance as they will just cancel your policy. Its not like I'm taking a loan from them and need to pay it back.
Does anybody know if you can pay off your car insurance early? I would like to pay it all off in one go, but that won't be for a few months.
Thanks for all the replies so far - as always you guys are great!
