Sticky Situation

We went to a broker got offer all set up for Abbey 4.69 fixed for 5 yearsborrowing 93k house worth roughly 180k. Repayments £540 per month-booking fee and legals included in this.

I then noticed 3.95 fixed fo 5 years, applied direct with Abbey, had to pay booking fee of 995 and valuation upfront. Applied 5 weks ago, got AIP and submitted documentation.

They have now asked for my full tax credit award notice, I have already submitted a 4 page up to date award but they want the 8 page one. Why do u think?

Now my drama is this-we are remortgaging to clear debt and have some needed work done-windows etc. The broker mortgage expires in 7 days, so if I dont get the 3.95 im screwed. if I went ahead with number 1 now, I would lose £1300 paid upfront on the 2nd.

Why do you think they need tax credit full award notice? is this procedure? Our combined income is 37k (cause im ptime at the moment with 2 under 3's!)so dont need this to be accounted but htey have taken it into consideration.

Any advice appreciated. Im terrified Ive got myself into a hole and been hasty in applying for the 2nd.

I'm sure it's just to check what you're saying. I know page 7 & 8 are often blank, but they'll want them too! It's probably just to make sure that the income you told the tax credit people for last year is roughly similar to your income this year. That way they'll know that the tax credits won't go down and affect affordability (even though you say it's not needed, they'll have their own affordability calculations). I reckon it's just procedure.
Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
  • My income on last years award 08-09 was 4500 as I was off on Maternity Leave for 15 months and only on SMP. I put a letter in with it explaining this and that they can check with my employer..

    Thanks for your response :T
