Income from writing articles

Options
Hi fellow MSE users, I can't believe I have only just discovered moneysavingexpert!!! The main reason I found this place is that my job is looking rather iffy at the moment and I was looking for extra ways to generate a side income. There seems to be a wealth of interesting ideas here of making some extra income and ways of cutting costs. It looks like I am going to have a lot of reading to do :D...... Don't worry I have signed up to martin's email newsletter now :T

I carried out a quick look but did not see anyone mention the hubpages writer publishing scheme to generate a second income. So I will tell you about it, I have only recently joined and started writing articles for it, so early days yet. The way it works is that you write a hub article about something of interest using the fairly intuitive editor, they automatically place adverts on the hub article you created in the right place and do all the complicated stuff of web hosting and submission to search engines. Then the proceeds from the adsense clicks, Amazon, ebay affiliate sales are shared between you and them (60% you, 40% them).I guess it is a fair deal as there is not cost involved apart from you time.

So I thought it might be of interest to other mse users who love to writing, have knowledge or interests they want to share, and can potentially generate revenue from the content you create.
I have only just joined less than a month ago but already earned £10 from a few articles I have published. The address is hubpages.com/_newstart/

thanks for reading, quibby

I did this for a short while and made peanuts. In terms of earnings, it was probably on a par with the likes of Helium. I've no idea how many articles you would have to write to make £10 but I suspect quite a few!

  • You can also get paid posting on forums. About 10p a post so hell of a lot of posts to quit the day job! Search for "Content Current"

The bulk of that £10 was made through an affiliate sale through Amazon on a breadmaker. Will check out Helium and what sarah cooper said about Content Current
  • You would be better off setting up your own website / blog and writing articles and getting 100% of the affiliate and adsense income. ;) Just do some keyword research first using this site: https://adwords.google.co.uk/select/KeywordToolExternal to make sure that there are paying advertisers in your chosen topic niche.
