Can I apply for mortgage now that I have a 40% reduced salary?

amhscott, here's the situation for each case:
1. not disclosing the income change: application fraud.
2. trying to involve your employer: an attempt at conspiracy. Also probably gross misconduct that would get you fired.
3. BTL mortgage: application fraud.
That's simply the law, no opinions required.
What would be done about it if caught will vary depending on how generous the mortgage lender is feeling. At a minimum they would probably record a fraudulent application on a system that all mortgage suppliers use, so that others will be aware that they should be cautious if they get an application from you later. At least one of the main credit reference agencies also offers the option of giving application statuses that include fraud, application accepted or fraud, application declined.0 -
