coming up for a year out of work.. what to do??

Only the sunshine is stopping me from feeling REALLY despressed, today..

I have lost count of the jobs I have applied for-
also registered withvarious job agencies, who seem to just go though the motions.
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)

An option is re-training, perhaps enroll for a college course to add on existing qualification/experience or a new career path.

I'm currently working part time and also have applied for numerous full time posts with no success. The current job situation is very dire, I'm looking to do a course for under 16 hours this september if i continue to have no luck with a full time position. The DWP will pay for the course as I don't earn enough.

When I was out of work, I knuckled down straight away with self study - books, training videos and online practice tests (I work in IT), and passed an exam after 2 months of solid effort. After that exam I started studying for another one, but got a job so the study stopped.

Do some courses or self-study to improve skills or learn new ones, improve your CV - get someone to check it and allow them to be critical, make sure any cover letters are laid out properly, spell-checked and printed out on nice paper. And take a nice walk along Brighton seafront to get some exercise and beat off the depression.

    Good luck.
