M&S Demand for total amount.....help please.

M&S Finance have sent me a letter today, demanding that I pay the full amount owed on their CC.
As it runs into a few thousand I can't do this.
I have, at the advice of CCCS, been paying a token amount every month which they have been accepting.
At the bottom of the letter they state that if I continue to pay the amount that has been agreed to ignore the letter.
I 'm sure there has never been any verbal or written agreement so I'm unsure what to do next.
Any advice?
I should ring them, shouldn't I?

Ok, I've spoken to them and they want a total breakdown of my creditors, incoming and outgoings before they agree to freeze interest etc.
I know they can ask for anything they want, but should I actually comply with this?
Also, should I ask them for a copy of mt cca?0 -
I would comply with them, you need to prove that you are struggling before they will freeze interest and accept lower payments. When I sorted out my mums debts the CCCS did one with her and then passed it on, some companies asked for a copy while CCCS were sorting it out. I sent them and all companies were really helpful.
I don't have any experience with requesting CCAs (yet) but i'm sure someone will advise.0 -
Thanks for the reply ylesia. They already have a soa that I did with CCCS, but now they are asking for something more detailed.
I suppose it's worth doing if you've found it helpful in the past.0 -

I've stated this many times on here, tell creditors what they NEED to know, not what they want to know.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

Hi salirip,
When you wrote to M & S after your appointment did you send them a copy of the budget and the list of creditors that we produced with you?
This budget contains all of the information that they need to be able to make a decision on reduced payments. I would try resending your offer letter, budget, and list of creditors to them again and see if they will then accept your offer. If they are asking for proof of income, copies of bills, etc. you are not required to provide this information to them.
If they do not accept your offer of payment then you should still continue to pay the offer you have made. They will still try to collect the arrears from you but stand your ground. Just because they do not like your offer of payment does not mean that you have any further money to offer to them.
Eventually they may issue a Default Notice. This is a legal requirement on the creditor’s behalf, they will probably then pass your debt to a Debt collection Agency (DCA). This is not the end of the world: it will just give you another opportunity to negotiate your reduced payment.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Amanda I have already resent the I&E I did with CCCS to M&S, but I forgot to mention this when I spoke to them this morning.
Is there any point sending it again?
Most of my other creditors have, so far been very understanding.
I am self employed and work has been difficult over the last few months. Fortunately I have picked up some good jobs in the last few weeks and things are looking brighter so, with some breathing space now, I should be able to catch up soon.0 -

Hi Salirip,
If you have already sent it again then I would not bother a 3rd time. Just see what they come back to you with when they receive it. You are doing everything that you should be doing.
