claiming back tax paid as student

Hi There

I am new to the boards and have been prompted to write because of the hassle i am having claiming back my tax.

I sent off all the paperwork inc p60s in February but have heard nothing back. As i have recently moved the tax office got in touch to change the office i was registered at. I asked if there was any news on the claim and was told that some calculations had been done but that the she couldn't say anymore!!!

My main concern is that as my details as moved the claim will fall through the cracks and as i stupidly sent off orginal p60 i won't be able to re-claim.

I would be so grateful for any help on how to get my money back, thanks very very much in advance

Most tax offices have a lot of post on hand and if your claim has been sent to another office, it's possible it has moved to the bottom of the pile again. Ring the helpline again and politely ask whether someone in authority can ring you back to let you know the progress of your claim.
next time you work during the vacations, make sure you ask your employer for a form P38S which will mean that you won't have tax deducted.
