Oh what a stress.

I went out to Gibraltar last month to book my wedding for Whit Wk next year. We needed it Whit wk because its "shut down" for my OH's company and also because it will be school holiday and alot of my friends have chidren so it means they will be able to fly over, my OH also has 2 daughters who are school age and I dont think his ex will be happy them been away from school for a week (understandly).

All was fine until I sent out the invites this weekend, my mate has called me this morning to say "Was I aware this was the week before Whit Wk"

Apparently next year Whit Wk is the 1st wk in June, app its a very rare occurence and due to the last day of May been on a Monday it means that Whit Wk is the 1st week in June and NOT the last wk in May like normal.

Now I know this is my fault for not doing my homework properly but I never even gave it a thought.

So now I have to email the registra, botanical gardens & the photographer in Gib. Then I have to send revised date cards to everyone I have just sent invites to.

I'm gona look a right idiot :mad:

Lesson learnt, always check things throughly!!!

What a bummer!!

Look on the bright side though, at least you know now and can do something about it, than finding out further down the line and having to panic!

Oh dear!
It's just as well my daughter decided to wait to speak to her Gib friends who are coming over soon before jumping in to book a date. We'd (or rather I) had looked at the school calendar of the school I'm involved in and the calendar of my son's school (he leaves this year but their calendar shows next year) and they finish at the same time. My daughter had her diary out (she teaches at a different school) and suddenly realised her school doesn't finish on the Friday like ours, it finishes the following Wednesday. It's an RC secondary and has to add days on to the end of term to make up for the saint's days etc. they have off earlier in the year. So everything will need to be put back by a week!
Thankfully we're looking at Summer Hols so have more time than you.

Hope you can change your dates ok, and that it's the only hiccup you have!
Friends are visiting next weekend so we will be contacting people after that. I can't wait!!!!

Phew, i've now had emails back from the gardens and the registra so my wedding date is 2 June 2010 instead of 26th May 2010. Its a shame because the May date was 3 years to the date that me and Simon met but i'm sure 2nd June will be just as special.
