wanted to go it alone??????

i initially was going to pay my creditors through one of the many charities but when we could not agree on my budget i decided to try going it alone. the halifax ban on calling to hassle me ends on 23 april and so i will have to speak to them one way or the other at some point. so although i was awaiting the results of my sar requeste i tried to see if i could get them to accept a pro-rata monthly figure instead of the £191 i was supposed to pay. well i have just spoke to them and they have said they will not look at a pro-rata figure unless i submitted an I and E ( which i did not want to do as my surplus figure looked good on paper but not in purse). when i then asked them about freezing interest they said they would only do that if i was going through a dmp with a charity organisation. am bit confused now as if this is the only way they will discuss terms with me how will the results of my sar request give me any leveridge.......bit confused help???

Halifax are a bit funny when it comes to not going through one of the charities. They just completly ignored any attempts by me untill I got CCCS involved.

Why do you have this surpless you don't agree on? Are you not including something in your outgoings that you should do?

i have needs relating to my disability that they did not count as necessary living... things like incontinence pads and a cleaner a few times a month as social services only offer 30 minutes every month and live alone with son so no one else could do it for me in family for free.
if this is the case then it seems a bit of a waste of time waiting for results of SAR request, might just as well throw myself on cccs again and see what happens.... did cccs get you a good repayment deal?

    Hi Homealone,

If the items in your budget are essential you need to let your counsellor know and they can write a comment on your budget for you i.e. “essential cost due to disability”. Are you claiming DLA, if so this money is to cover these costs not pay debts.

I have attached a letter below you can use to forward to your creditors re phone calls.

    Hope this helps
    Sarah

    To whom it may concern

    Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to ask that you no longer contact me by telephone as your calls are causing me considerable stress due to the frequency, and that they are being made at inappropriate times. Please remove my telephone number from your database and send all future communication in writing to my home address.

I have provided the most recent copy of my income and expenditure to make you aware of my current financial situation. I will continue to make my payment of x on the x of every month and will keep you informed of any changes in my circumstances as I am keen to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

I understand that following this request if you continue to call I can contact the Office of Fair Trading to make a formal complaint.

Please confirm in writing that your records have been amended.

    Yours sincerely

You need to get these expenses included in your budget. Sit and write down your outgoings in full this will help you when speaking to the debt counsellors. CCCS did help me a lot and the amount I was repaying was reasonable
