I work full time in the week, but have had a huuuge paycut in order to keep my job. I've always had a second job but recently got laid off from my bar job.
I have been offered a weekend office admin job (9-4 on a Sat and 12-4 on a Sun), so after tax its just under £200 a month.
Do you think its worth working 7 days a week?

For sure. If you've got the time to work weekends, and no other obligations, I don't see why not. I used to work 7 days myself; as long as you take time out for a holiday every few months, you should be fine.Debts (26.3% remaining) - CC/BARC: [strike]2058[/strike] 100.00 @0%; CC/MBNA: [strike]1877.75[/strike] 0.00; Loan/SLC: [strike]10000[/strike] 7901.84 @1.5%; Loan/Per: [strike]1500[/strike] 0.00; Loan/HX: [strike]15000[/strike] 0.00

It really depends on your personal circumstances. Debts family commitments etc. If you will not neglect more important commitments and have debts to clear I would say go for it! You will also have less time for secret spending if working 7 days a week.
Good luck whatever you decide. You should probably take into consideration how much you will enjoy this second job too.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
Sort of.
School 5 days a week, work 2 days on the weekend.
Whenever i'm on holiday from School i'll go to work on overtime.
It's fine - as long as you can get a day off every now and again.
£200 a month is £2,400 a year, or your Sky, Internet and Phone contract paid off with £100 ish left a month.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
I try and work 7 days a week - 5 days at my full time and then my part time job Saturday and, if the shifts are free I will do Sunday. It does get you down sometimes, but think of the long term benefits of clearing your debts or having money to go out.
Remember, which you probably already do as you have had a second job before, that you will be taxed at the basic rate on your second job.0 -
thanks guys  family commitments are the usual BBQs coming up over the summer with the boyf's family but I am sure they wont mind me getting there a bit later.
Holidays are pro-rated, so I guess I would get 10 days? In my full time job i get 25 so its not bad
bye bye debts!0 -
I've had a weekend job in the past, in addition to my full time job. I worked for a car hire company, and was coming away with half of my full time pay for just weekends!
Saying that, the wage was basic, but there was the opportunity to double the wages with commission, so was coming home with between £300 and £500 a month.0 -
My daughter works 5 days a week at one job then wekends at another nd JUST covers her bills, transport, food. She is 22. If you can't do it when you are 22 when can you do it? I am very proud of her.0

My Husband works 7 days a week, he lost his job 2 1/2 years ago after the Buncefield oilfield explosion, found another job after 3 months which he loves (groundsman at local private school) but earns less than half what he was, so also works Sat 10am-7pm and Sunday 10am-3pm delivering for Mr T. We paid off a £12,00 loan over 2 years after he lost his job and we could only do it with this second job. He's stuck it for 2 years now but is thinking of changing his shift and just working Sundays and one evening a week instead, now things are a little easier.
Incidentally I work around 50 hours a week plus some weekends (function work), not easy for either of us but you do what you have to do to get by. The kids understand we have to work to pay the bills, we try and fit in nice things when we can. Good luck:D0 -
I do but not full days Saturday and Sunday, I couldnt cope. I am lucky that in my extra jobs are flexible as they are Betterware and PArtylite so I do them around my commitments and family.0

I do 6 days a week, currently averaging 60 hours a week - and I'm shattered. I take my hat off to those doing 7 days. :beer:Yeah, whatever. I'm a grown up, I can take it...0
